Ron

Up town to the City Art Centre to hear a talk by Ron O’Donnell about his exhibition “Edinburgh: A Lost World.” He’s a most engaging and amusing speaker, as well as being a top notch arty dude and photographer. I want to be his friend! As it was, my good chum MrW was also in attendance and he really does know Ron as he used to work up at KB (in fact one of the cameras he used may have been “sourced” from that very place). And here is Ron in front of one of the pictures that didn’t make the cut - Pilrig Motors, the “iconic" garage in Leith Walk which sadly just yesterday announced it's shutting its doors after 88 years of business. Another tramworks victim.
Then on to the Stand for their 5pm show - we’d freebie tickets from SFF, which was a bit strange as the place was rammed (though we had seats of course, knowing to get in the queue when doors opened at 4pm). Vladimir McTavish, the compere, was well gassed, but held it together, just about. And the top act, one Micky Bartlett* was just tremendous. I want to be his friend too. OK, his uncle. Grand-uncle?
