Fieldfare

Although I tend to misidentify birds I'm pretty sure this is a fieldfare. It was one of a big flock eating sea buckthorn berries. What a delight to see, and hear, them.

We went a few miles further east this morning, to Gullane. Pronounced, as I always think, Gill-an. Or occasionally Gill-ane. But not Gull-an. There again I don't live there and I believe in days of yore it was Gool-an so who knows. However it's pronounced it is a pretty East Lothian village, home to the famous Muirfield golf course.

We parked by the beach, which is where the fieldfares were busy. Another glorious winter day though signs of a change in the weather to the west. The sea was flat calm again and we walked from one end of the beach to the other. Flora had a ball (extra).

Back into the village for coffee and cake. The latter counted as lunch. Then a wander round the village greens before, somewhat reluctantly, heading for home.

It would have been nice to extend our time away but all good things etc. and there's a few things to do at home. Really these places are an easy day trip from Stirling but the luxury was not having to travel for a couple of days.
