International Holocaust Day 2023

"For your benefit, learn from our tragedy. It is not a written law that the next victims must be Jews. It can also be other people." Simon Wiesenthal. Holocaust survivor, Nazi hunter.

A photograph of the Ghetto Memorial Wall on Dohány Street,Budapest. A map carved into the concrete shows the outline of the walled Jewish ghetto. Before the Holocaust, Hungary had a sizeable Jewish community accounting for six percent of the total population. There were 825,000 Jewish people in so-called Greater Hungary before the deportations began in March 1944, and the consensus is that more than 500,000 were killed.
I took the original photograph some years ago.
