Now, as I see it......

Southwold

The last day of our little break.  We left the hotel after breakfast and drove up to Southwold where we had a walk along the sea front and out to the end of the pier.  We bought a couple of things in one of the shops on the pier and then headed back into town for a coffee and cake.  We've had a really good few days and packed in a lot, and the place where we stayed was superb; great service, good food and drink, and in a nice place too.  We'll overlook that the housekeeper forgot to leave our two chocolates (or any towels) in the room on the last day.

I've added an extra of the Swan Hotel in Southwold.  We stayed there on our first visit to the town back in around 1996/7 having driven over on a cold and wet Friday night when the rain turned to snow on the way over.  There was hardly any other traffic on the road and I remember having to drive on the 'cats eyes' as it was so white, it was the only way I could tell where the road was.  We arrived to find this square several inches deep in snow and checked in to the hotel where we had a lovely meal and then sat in some big squashy armchairs looking out at what seemed a Dickensian scene.  One of those magical memories that stays with you for ever.
