After the frost cleared it was a lovely day with the temperature in the sun reaching 10 degrees in the afternoon.  It had been a very busy morning so for a breath of fresh air we decided on a short walk from Morrison’s Haven to Prestopans.  The sea was almost like a millpond with the sounds only of eider ducks and other seabirds and the lapping water of the incoming tide and planes which were hardly visible overhead in the hazy sky.  The coast of Fife opposite seemed to have disappeared and it was just possible to see the feint outline of Inchkeith.  Not much more than 60 years ago the sights and sounds would have been very different before the harbour was filled in and land reclaimed and the nearby Prestongrange brickworks and colliery were operational.  Now it is popular with dog walkers and one of the last coastal parts of the John Muir Way which stretches from the east to west coast in central Scotland.
