Walking down Brackens Saddle Track …

….. ….. ….. towards the Crown Terrace and Glencoe Rd. The track can be seen wending its way downhill. The signage from the top of New Chums Gully track was contradictory at best, so we may have been on Peters Way, or otherwise it’s got two names! It was a very steep narrow track alongside a steep & narrow gorge; however, very scenic. Amazingly so. My friend J. & Missy & I walked 15 kms, from the Arrow Gorge, up & down steep hills many times, until we reached familiar Tobins Track.
What a day! Unforgettable.
That’s the Remarkables in the far distance.

The news is terrible from the Hawkes Bay about the results of Cyclone Gabrielle. So many people no longer have anywhere to call home, people are missing, damaged roads have left some folk completely isolated, and in Gisborne their water Reservoir is badly damaged. It’s all awful. I got choked up watching the news. Thousands have been rescued and their houses aren’t liveable.

And now there’s been a 6.1 magnitude earthquake in Wellington late this afternoon. No serious damage reported so far.
