Blackcap (Sylvia atricapilla) Hiding

I'd seen a blackcap visit our feeders last week but without having the camera to hand so I was pleased to see this bird return today.  Blackcaps are not in danger, but it is still rare to see them in the garden and it was thought that they migrated to southern Europe in the winter.  Doing a little 'Googling'  found reference to research that many no longer make the flight south because they are now able to find plenty of food from feeders in gardens during the winter.  I've added an extra so you can see the bird's full plumage (I just liked how it seemed to be playing hide and seek in the main image).

We were invited to a meal out with L's cousin at short notice, a birthday celebration.  We visited Trentham Gardens and ate out at The Willows, which proved very enjoyable.  A pity we were driving back down the M6 on our way home, as the sky gave a wonderful dusk display tonight.
