Future Leeks

Inspired by the Pak Choi and Red Mustard seeds that are sprouting away merrily in their seed-trays, I decided to move on to leeks. An allotment neighbour gave me a couple of leek flower heads last year but I’d done nothing with them, basically because I’m clueless when it comes to leeks. But today, after denuding the dried flower heads of their florets, I’ve managed to then get some seeds just by crushing the florets between my fingers. Seed numbers varied from five to zero, with zero and one seed being most common, but I’ve no idea whether any of them will actually sprout. Watch this space!
Tenpin tonight and we were below par but still managed some points, so not all bad but ‘must do better’.
