Hiking in Joshua Tree National Park

We set out this morning for a hike.  We went early because it is a holiday (President's Day) and there were likely to be crowds lined up to get into the National Park.  We went to a favorite hiking trail of our hosts that is generally not frequented by the masses.

We hiked in for about 1.5 miles and then turned back and we never saw another person. The trail wasn't too difficult, which was good for us oldsters.

I think that this park has been misnamed.  Although it contains many of the Joshua Trees, it is actually the amazing rock formations, unlike I have ever seen before, that are the most beautiful part of the park.
