The Way I See Things

We had a slightly challenging day today with the Boy Wonder - largely, I think, because I became increasingly viral across the day, and the less useful I was, the more unfairly the wrangling duties landed on R. What with that, and the fact that the park was unexpectedly (since we'd failed to register that there was a teachers' strike happening) full of much older children, which discouraged B from using the playground, we returned him home without his having burned off enough energy, and then had to deal with him going berserk with his toys, the furniture, and us.

Despite this there were some lovely moments, and some funny ones. After his nap the Boy was wandering around the crocuses, commenting on their colours (this being a particular interest of his at the moment) and condition, but was then distracted by the sight of a couple of spaniels which were chasing squirrels up trees. This led to a few minutes in which he was particularly noticing of squirrels, and - "Oh!" he said, "they cuddlin'!" Which they were, in a slightly non-consensual kind of way. Luckily the cuddle ended before too much fur flew, and the female started carrying twigs up into the tree, presumably to build a drey. With luck we might even see some young in this tree in due course, which I'm sure B will find very interesting.

This photo is sharper than the Blipfoto compression might have you think; I hope you'll look at it full-screen for a better view.
