Chestnut-sided Warbler

Another of our NorthAmerican wood warblers--a male in his lovely full breeding plumage (better than the lead illustration in the Wiki article :).

A friend took us on a tour this morning of a small part of the Quabbin Reservoir--a large area flooded in the 1930s to provide water to Boston and surrounding communities (ca. 70 miles to the east). Our friend is more experienced and expert than Marylee and myself--especially for bird songs, calls and chips; that's particularly important now that the trees have almost entirely leafed out. Other highlights included: 2 male scarlet tanagers, 2 black-billed cuckoos, great crested flycatcher, yellow-throated vireo. But this chestnut-sided provided clearly the best blip.
