To Synod …

I’m in Oban. Di drove us here this afternoon , after our morning Pilates classes, and I left home just as the piano tuner (who lives in Brazil) turned up to see to our piano. We drove past snowy mountains and through the odd swirling snow shower and had time to go for a walk round the harbour as the sun set beyond Kerrerra.

We’re here for the Diocesan Synod, which is a two day event for the laity, though the clergy have to stay an extra day. This prolonged event reflects the distances people have to travel to get here - we met a friend from Skye whom I’ve only seen online for the years since I was last here, ten days before lockdown began. We’re staying in the relatively new Premier Inn , which is reassuringly predictable - a great improvement on our last experience here!

Heading out for dinner on the North Pier shortly- the pangs of hunger have just struck!
