Sucre

This weekend we traveled to Sucre, Bolivia's official capital, conveniently a UNESCO work heritage site so it is all still pretty and unspoiled. We arrived fresh (hmm) off our 12 hour overnight bus a few km outside Sucre, where we were told there was a roadblock still going on so bad luck, everyone has to walk over. We followed the stream of bus passangers over the 'block' - 2 lines of rocks over the road with a bonfire inbetween, and jumped into a public bus into the centre! Arriving so early we just had to fill the time between arriving and exploring eating the only food available early - Saltenas! Tough task. From Saltenas we moved onto coffee, wondered up to a viewpoint, went for delicious lunch in the market, went to the chocolate shops cafe and had hot chocolate and chocolate covered fruit, ate some street found dulce de leche biscuits and bamboo shoots, sunbathed on top of an old monastery admiring Sucre's beautiful white buildings and terracotta roofs (where the photo was taken!), had a chocolate sample, had a nap, went out for a great dinner and then had frozen yogurt for pudding. Safe to say Sucre more than provided on the food and chocolate front!
