Repetition in nature

I love seeing patterns in nature, many of which are repeating ones. This photo is of the surface of a cordyline plant whose trunk is about 4cm in diameter, so the photo is a macro. Cordylines come in many varieties and this one has a twisty habit with long narrow strappy leaves around the top looking a bit like a bad hair day.

The pattern on the trunk is made by the older leaves at the bottom when they drop off. I've added an abstract touch by applying a soft focus filter and enhancing the blue and green tones.
