Snake in the Grass

A glorious day especially for a dog walk round a lake which shimmered in the sunshine and harboured swans and grebes, geese and ducks all enjoying the weather.Tilly though  moaned all the way so I cut it short - very short - it's unusual for her not to like a walk which is worrying.

Heading off again without the dogs this time I drove to where I knew I usually found adders basking in the sunshine. It was quite a search but eventually I found this tiny one who took one look at the camera and slithered into the grass and back under a gorse bush. Uncurled he was about a foot in length, beautifully marked and very shy.
