Kelly Country

Today we meandered through Victoria stopping at various infamous spots along the way including Violet Town, scene of the 1969 rail disaster when the Southern Aurora crashed into a freight train after the driver had a heart attack at the controls and Kingslake which was almost wiped out in the 2009 bushfires.
Pictured is Glenrowan where the infamous bush ranger, Ned Kelly, was shot despite his homemade armour. He survived but was later hanged.

We are now at the lovely Hotel Sorrento on the Mornington Peninsula, south of Melbourne, for a reunion of the Contiki tour I did 47 years ago to Spain, Portugal and Morocco. I probably don’t need to explain it was a memorable trip ;-)
