Emperor Hadrian’s Luxury Villa

The Villa Adriana was built in the 2nd century as a residential complex for the Roman Emperor…Italian’s don’t use the letter ‘H”, hence Villa Adriana. The complex is huge… and Hadrian loved art, philosophy, architecture and so of course his villa was extraordinary… aside from the residences for the imperial court, there were several story residences for the humble servants, firefighters (!), guests…there was a library, a philosophers room, spas, baths, gymnasiums, theatre…and of course, lots of marble statues, columns, mosaic floors, and pools and ponds.
