Grass Snake

A grass snake this afternoon on the hillside having just woken up from hibernation. It is on top of a larger female. You will have to trust me on that one.

They can live between 15-20 years which quite amazed me when I looked it up. I wanted to get closer to get a better shot of it's head as it was pretty well covered with grasses and brambles but they didn't like me being there. There was an adder that slithered off pretty sharpish too!
