Slightly Shocked With All The Attention

We left San Jose this morning and headed off by coach to Tortaguera. After 3 hours driving through some lovely scenery, including through banana plantations, local villages and rainforest scenery we arrived at a river and finished our journey with a 90 minute boat journey as the region is so remote that there are no roads and it can only be reached by boat through the network of rivers and canals.

We spent the afternoon exploring the local town of Tortaguera, a short boat trip from our hotel. It was an interesting town made up of local hotel workers houses, backpacker hostels and tourist bars and shops.

We visited the hotel ‘frog pond’ once it got dark and were lucky enough to bump into a guide who showed us this gorgeous red eyed tree frog, looking slightly shocked at all the attention.
