Monktonhall Colliery

Miss Flum recently visited the site of the defunct Monktonhall Colliery and Millerhill Sidings on a quest to record some industrial archaeology before the remains disappear for ever.
Mr Flum then started reminiscing about his visit down the 3000 feet deep mine in the 1970's, so today we ventured across the now desolate area which shows very little evidence of it's previous life.

This, we think, is a pipeline which took pumped water away from the mine, which was notoriously wet, evidenced by the several pools and wet ground underfoot.
