Whins

A profusion of bright whins on the Formartin and Buchan Way - a long distance footpath along the route of the single track railway line which, until the Beeching axe fell, linked Peterhead and Fraserburgh to Aberdeen.

The railway was important in facilitating the rapid transport of fish south from the ports. Such was the urgency that fish were given precedence over passengers at passing places.
