Bukha Fort and Mosque Dome

We find ourselves in Khasab, Oman today.  Still very hot and hazy, dusty, with lots of rocky mountains.  Today is the first day of Eid here in Oman, celebrating the end of Ramadan, but I think everyone is sleeping in because we hardly saw a soul in either Bukha or Khasab.  Lots of wandering goats, though.

We visited a very well preserved Portuguese fort in Khasab (see extra) which had some interesting exhibits on display, and then traveled along the coast to Bukha where we were supposed to visit another fort, but  unfortunately the man with the key to open the padlocked entry door could not be found. So we just admired the architecture from the outside.  This image shows some of the fort's crenelated walls with the dome of a nearby mosque in the background.  A quick stop at the beach to gaze at the gorgeous water, and then on to enjoy traditional Arab refreshments of dates and cardamom-scented coffee before returning to our floating home.
