A SPLASH of bright yellow....

On a grey winter's morning. Named Bietou by the Khoi and used as a medicinal plant in the early years, this plant is flowering in great profusion, tumbling down the slopes of the mountain and adorning the sides of the road. Also known by the Afrikaners as Bosluisbessie translated into English as Bush-Tick berry. I have done colour sketches of them for cards. After the flowering come the little berries that look like ticks. The pioneer Afrikaners had such unimaginative names for places and plants.. I wonder what Bietou means.
The sun is streaming into my little studio. A cosy place to work.
Includesd as extra photos, a card for my grandson who turns 13 at the end of the month
