Messing around on the river

A lovely sunny start to the day - I was expecting to visit my oldest friend for lunch today, but unfortunately he phoned to say that his wife has just tested positive for Covid, so we had to be content with a long chat instead.

My sister and I had planned to have a Thames river trip from Hampton Court to Kingston this afternoon, something we'd done many times, but we left earlier and took the 'Southern Belle' (see extra) to Richmond instead, which we'd not done before.  Unfortunately the sky had clouded over and the light wasn't great, but it was an amazing ride - some of the river scenes between Twickenham and Richmond are totally green with woodland along both banks. My Blip today is of the gates closing behind our boat as we entered Teddington Lock.

We had lunch in Richmond and then had a look round the Duckpond Market in Heron Square. A photographer by the name of Alex Saberi - https://www.alexsaberi.com/ - was selling his photographs and we had a long chat! Always good to meet a fellow enthusiast!

We returned to Hampton  by bus. One more day out tomorrow and then it's back to Oban on Tuesday!
