On Top of the World

Last Hike of our Parla e Cammina class! My classmates and our instructor/leader are teetering on top of a hill of volcanic rock overlooking the teeniest village with a ‘che spectacolo mozzafiato’ panoramic view of the Garfagnana and the impressive Ponte della Villetta. We crossed this arched bridge, first by train, then on foot, then walked under and all around it. The Ponte della Villetta took 3 years to build in the 1920’s, minutes to be destroyed by the Nazis during WWII, but rebuilt soon after the war. Beauty & function. A perspective under one of the arches is the artsty extra.
