Just...

……………………..…the Two of Us

While out this morning we spotted these two Pied Shags, native to NZ and usually known as  cormorants in other countries, sitting on rocks watching the tide recede. Rain was falling, but of course that wasn’t an issue for these feathered friends.

Thank you for the comments, stars and hearts for my previous blip. Another two of the twelve remaining chrysalis’ emerged today. They too will take their place on the orange marigold flowers when they are moved outside tomorrow in readiness to take flight.
The orange blooms are the only plants I have flowering in a small pot. Not all flowers are suitable for insects to feed on - and very soon these plants will die with the cold winter temperatures, but for the moment the open structure of the petals means nectar is available to the butterflies.
It is an accidental coincidence that they flowers and the monarchs are colour coordinated. I’m not complaining though!
