Fireless Locomotive

Fireless locomotive built by Andrew Barclay Sons & Co Ltd of Kilmarnock in 1928, works number 1952. It was supplied new to the Shell refinery at Ardrossan and worked there until closure in 1981. It was the last steam locomotive regularly used in industry in Scotland and was charged up using the refinery steam supply.

It has operated at the Doon Valley Railway, being steamed via the boiler of No 10, and it is hoped that this locomotive will operate again on the railway later this year.
