Robur Tea Ghost Sign

I looked up Robur Tea when I noticed one of their signs in Newtown a while ago. The article I found describes the Robur signs, usually featuring a silver teapot, as ‘one of the most concerted and multifaceted marketing campaigns of its time’. Customers collected coupons that could be redeemed, with a small additional payment, for a silver teapot. Over 500 signs were painted on Melbourne walls in just two years, 1929-1930.

The article said that only one Robur sign seems to have survived, but by my count this makes three.

A serendipitous find down from The Quiet Man.
