Life after Burradoo, NSW

By MountGrace

What do they have in common?

These three unremarkable looking buildings are all built on sites of 19th century pubs in Bathurst. My great grandfather, Benjamin Hale, was the licensee at some stage of each of the three pubs, not simultaneously but one after the other.

We had a wonderful day in Bathurst today. It started off with watching from our hotel window, a large number of kangaroos enjoying the early morning sunshine (see extras). Then we met our fellow Blipper, 59, for morning tea. We talked and talked and talked. We feel so lucky to have had the chance to catch up with her. This afternoon we went looking for the sites where my great grandfather’s pubs had been located. Sadly, none of them still exist.
