Rufford Abbey Country Park

We had a lovely sunny day out today…meeting up with our daughter, husband and the two granddaughters.

It was originally a Cistercian Abbey but later converted to a country house after the dissolution of the monasteries. The estate is now owned by Nottinghamshire County Council and operated as a country park. It is not far from Clumber Park.

We walked around the woods and lake, saw loads of ducklings and goslings and some acrobatic squirrels at various feeding stations around the site.

We had a simple picnic lunch…just sandwiches and fruit (so that we didn’t have to carry too much around with us).

Added an extra with another view of the house from the courtyard.

We finished off the day out with an ice cream…before heading home back up the A1.

Roast chicken (well air fryer rotisserie chicken) for tea later :-)
