Female red-winged blackbirds always seem to be ready for a photo. The blackbirds in general don't seem afraid and are always present in the reeds. Males tend to stay further away. Maybe it's something to do with protecting their nests, although I haven't seen any yet.

Blackbirds also seem to be the warning system. Whenever I'm near the reeds they start with their chirping call, like an echo sounder. Maybe it's just me, but then all the other birds and animals seem to be on alert.
