Tresco, Scilly Isles

A beautiful day on Tresco in the Scilly Isles, visiting the gorgeous Abbey Garden.

The garden was started in 1834, extending over the grounds around the remains of the 12th Century St. Nicholas Priory.  If you had just been beamed to this magical place, you would never guess you were in England!  The microclimate created by the Gulf Stream means that plants normally found in countries such as Australia, South Africa, California, and South America are thriving happily here.  The gardens are also famous for their red squirrel population, and these adorable creatures are everywhere!
