The time of roses

It was really chilly first thing but soon warmed up.  I managed to mow some of the lawn - the area I let grow so now it will be difficult to cut as it has grown so long.  The orchids that appeared last year are in bud in the grass at the back of the house.  The roses are in their prime now but if this dry weather persists they will soon wilt.  We have been waiting for this warmth all winter and now it has arrived but soon will disappear as time flees.  I keep telling myself I must appreciate every minute!

T's friend P from Devon arrived, he had been delivering slurry stirrers to farms on the way.  They have known each other from school days but went to different agricultural colleges.
