Taking a Moment

This little blue tit is taking a moment from its incessant foraging for food. We were sitting on the patio this evening taking advantage of a rare opportunity to enjoy the late afternoon sunshine, when we noticed an incessant chirping from above. Our neighbours had set a nest box in their tree adjacent to our fence and it was apparent that it was occupied. Mother and Father blue tit were flying in on regular intervals with morsels for the new arrivals.

I grabbed the 500mm and stood in the garden taking photos, only realising afterwards that I was in the direct line of their flightpath between our feeding station and the box. As soon as I sat down they resumed a regular shuttle to the suet balls hanging from the feeder.
