My day

Nuttbush Retreat Caravan Park

The address was Iron Knob (not the best name in the world but it is sure suited the place) but out in the sticks an address could be within a hundred miles of the town. We finally found our proposed campsite which is an old sheep station and they have the shearer’s quarters all done up and power for caravans. The old shed is half conference facility and half shearing shed which is still used by the station. Quite a surprise.

Another surprise was our day’s travel from Penong to near Port Augusta across the top of the Eyre Peninsula (where we spent a few weeks last month). I expected semi arid country but it was mostly beautiful hilly wheat country. The crops were vibrant after recent rain.

We had lunch at Kimba which has a sign Half Way Across Australia which reminds us we still have a bit to travel. We aren’t really stopping now for touristy things and just heading for home. Our daughter says we are like 2 ponies after they turn for home (any horse riders would understand what that means).
