The Spotted Cow

Back blip for yesterday:

It was another busy day. Cleaning has been a bit neglected for one reason and another so we got down to some serious stuff. Mr Flossmo changed the bedclothes and put the washing on and I did a deep clean of the utility room and the landing hall and stairs. We had had the velux window open during the hot weather and all manner of dust and debris had accumulated as well as webs and dead spiders. All now happily removed.

After lunch I watched the Wimbledon Women's final but thought it was a bit disappointing. In between points I ripped back the hem on the sleeves of a new blouse - they are much too long and need a new one turning.

Later we went to meet friends for dinner at The Spotted Cow. The blip is of a rather curious sign in one of the houses leading up to the pub. During the pandemic the pub erected  a sort of gazebo structure outside. Since then they have made the structure permanent with glazed panels and a high ceiling. Unfortunately, last night it was packed and the noise was very loud - the absence of any soft furnishing making the gales of laughter coming for one of the tables reverberate around the room. Conversation was impossible. We won't be going back. Fortunately our friends invited us back to their place for pudding, which turned out to be ice-cream with strawberries and a brownie, and coffee with chocolates. The quiet was really welcome.  On the way home Mr Flossmo marvelled that our friends had a stock of ice cream, strawberries, brownies and chocolates on hand. Such things last all of a day in our house.
