Amorous Goings on ....

... near the pond. I'm not exactly sure what's going on here - do biggify if you need a closer look, but all the damsel flies seem to have erupted and are being amorous over the pond. We have these rather gorgeous stripey red ones and some equally handsome turquoise ones.

What a beautiful day - we've reached the dizzy heights of 22C and it's a Bank Holiday! I have mooched around in the garden for most of the day, reclaiming paths and clearing around blackcurrants. A little lying in a deckchair with a book has also been undertaken. I've just finished reading The Gurkha's Daughter by Prajwal Parajuly - a collection of short stories set in Nepal and northern India. Being a Gurkha's daughter myself I was interested to see how things might have changed. Quite a lot by the sound of it - this addresses the complexities of being useful to the British Army when required, yet being palmed off with miniscule pensions when not. Not as heavy as it sounds.
