Female Hover Flies lay their eggs on leaves near aphid colonies. In their larval stage, Hover Flies, can devastate 70-80% of an aphid infestation. They are also important pollinators and enjoy the nectar of a wide variety of flowers. Some varieties of Hover Flies resemble bees but they don't have stingers or mouth parts, so are harmless to humans.
