The Ragged School, Edinburgh

It's amazing what you can find out about the city you live in from Google and having ridiculous random words thrown at you to interpret for a weekly blip challenge. This week Mr Young has given us the almost impossible task of RAGGED and I was at a loss other than trying to find a friendly tramp who I could bribe with the price of a cup of coffee to pose for me. That was until Google told me there was something called a Ragged School in Edinburgh. It would appear that a certain Mr Guthrie (Thomas not Giles of the weekly blip challenge parish) raised funds to set up a school that could provide free education for the vagrant children of Edinburgh's Old Town and this was the site of the original Ragged Industrial School.
