Mold, Flintshire

SATURDAY

Antoni, the first named storm of the year, arrived this morning. The winds were not as strong as predicted but we were affected by heavy showers which continued throughout the day until late evening when the sun eventually broke through the clouds.

We went up to the village community pub to check out the local market and have lunch. The place was buzzing and most of the produce on display had been sold within thirty minutes of opening.

This afternoon, we drove over to Mold which is the county town of Flintshire for a look around. It's a place I have passed through many times but have never set foot there. It's half-an-hour away from home by car. It was market day with stalls on the main street however, by 2pm some of the traders seemed to be ready for calling it a day. The town centre had quite an interesting mix of shops including a number of independent traders and lots of inviting cafes. We stopped off at "Lovelies Delights" for tea and cake before heading home.
