Rainbow lorikeets

Rainbow lorikeets are the largest and brightest of the lorikeets and the most popular. They come top of the list in annual backyard bird counts. Males and females are identical so they look particularly beautiful when they travel in pairs. They are not universally popular, however, because of the damage they do to fruit crops. They inhabit the eastern seaboard but have been accidentally introduced to Perth, WA, where they are classed as a pest.
