Huda The Goddess

Eleven stations west to Bankstown for a poetry slam that draws 200-300 people each month. Headline act Huda The Goddess was national winner in 2021; next a 20-year-old who published a novella when she was in year 12 before turning to poetry. Twenty-six budding poets had their names down for the open section. The youngest was eight, Huda probably the oldest. Identity, the homeland, Palestine, racism, women, mothers, grandparents, god, love and death featured. Only the eight-year-old dealt with sport.

Newtown Poetry Slam, starting next week, will be an interesting contrast.
