Blue Moon

This is a late posting.

We must be tired for some reason because we slept in again this morning, so the day got off to a very slow start.  After breakfast MrMacD made a call to the solar power company to clarify a couple of points and get some further information, then he started installing the new ceiling light in the second bedroom.  Unfortunately, the LED bulb we’d bought wouldn’t fit through the opening into the lampshade - hmmm, lesson learned, measure first!  Meanwhile I got on with scanning receipts.  They fade after time so I now scan them, which preserves them digitally, and I recycle the hard copies.  After that I called a friend in Napier, which proved fortuitous, as it was his 55th wedding anniversary and he was on his way to visit his wife’s grave.

In the afternoon I made Halloumi and prepared vegetables for roasting and MrMacD installed the new side lights and ceiling light in the third bedroom.  When that was done we went for a walk to return the LED bulb and purchase a smaller one.  On the way back we walked through the Oamaru Public Gardens, which were lovely in the early evening light and very peaceful.  After we’d climbed up a steep hill we could see the mountains in the distance with the sun behind them, then we turned and looked towards the sea and there it was - the blue moon.  Except it wasn’t blue, it was orange and it was huge.  I’d put the vegetables in to roast before we left on our walk.  Unfortunately, this oven is obviously hotter than our previous oven and some of them were a bit more roasted than I’d have liked - another lesson learned, set the temperature lower than I usually would!

As we walked into town past North Otago Motors I took a photo of the “monster” at the front of the property.  He’s been very cleverly made from rusty old parts.  Just a few steps further on we saw a weird sculpture that neither of us have noticed before, so I took a photo of that too.  Then there was a cute electricity box and, of course, the blue moon.
