Common Darters

Who knew that digging a pond would lead to so much procreation.


At least 4 different dragonfly and damselfly species have been checking out our pond and depositing eggs. These are (I think...) Common Darters, but we have also had Beautiful Demoiselles, Red Damsels and a whacking great female Emperor who turned up on the first afternoon that the pond plants went in, laying eggs all over the lilies and in the mud around the banks.
