Out and About

North Euston

In the mid 1800s, when the railways couldn't  get over Shap Fell , the west coast  mainline from Euston ended at Fleetwood where passengers boarded steam boats to continue their journeys to the Lake District and Scotland.  This is the once very grand North Euston Hotel at the old terminus.  Passenger numbers have dropped off somewhat since those days and Mr Beeching even axed the railway.   But there is a now fine tram line from Blackpool which is how we got here today,  to escape the gales and take in some history. And I can't leave Blackpool without a shot of the lights. Extra.
