weather the weather

My day started early as I’m rubbish with jet lag and not the best at sleeping anyway. I was delighted by the time difference meaning that everyone at home was up - insomnia was not at all lonely! Whilst ensconced in the hotel room we had absolutely no idea that the weather was going nuts. So we set out for breakfast with our trusty umbrella but the bouncing (honestly biblical) rain meant we were soaked to the skin within about 2 minutes! Undeterred, we made our way to a lovely place for breakfast (bottom right) and felt slightly bad about leaving their seats sopping wet. But then everyone else did too. We decided we’d head back to the hotel as there was an automatic alert on our phones indicating that it was a dangerous situation. But we couldn’t take the subway due to floods so ended up walking around until the rain became more tolerable. It was undeniably beautiful in Times Square - the reflections were amazing. But the sky was very dark for 2pm! We did some shopping (I have a new coat as I really flipping needed one) and saw some sites.

We napped and then went to the cocktail lounge in our hotel. Drinking a Cosmo opposite the Empire State Building was fun! And as our planned evening was cancelled (most shops, museums and restaurants had closed to let their staff find a way home) we headed out to Ellen’s Stardust Diner. It’s a riot in there….Broadway hopefuls singing on the tables!

Such a gloriously fun day and thanks to the weather we’ll never forget it!
