Back alley

Went to a meeting today that meant walking down a central Edinburgh street I've never walked down before. So of course I had to blip it.

A friend commented elsewhere and I thought I'd share: "Where the famous Lane Sales used to happen. Everything that the saleroom couldn't sell was taken out the back into the lane for a cheap everything-must-go-public auction. At the end if there was any stuff left over unsold you could often take it away for nothing. That's how many student flats were furnished and acquired their kitchen equipment in the 1960s."
