Cley Windmill & the Falling Pheasant

A and I enjoyed a beautiful walk around Cley this morning. As you can see it was a sunny and bright morning.

We were driving back home through Kelling Village and noticed a shoot taking place in a field next to the road. Then a shot rang out and we were horrified when a (hopefully) dead pheasant dropped out of the sky and hit the road right in front of the car. The impact caused it to bounce into the verge. Had it hit the windscreen or worse still had there been oncoming traffic or a cyclist there goodness knows what could have happened. A strongly worded letter has been sent to the estate manager. This particular stretch of road is a nightmare to drive along as there are pheasants and partridges running all over the road, I don’t suppose the estate worry too much if the odd game bird gets killed by a car, but it’s very upsetting if you’re the driver and, like me, love wildlife.
