If you can't beat them...

Grey Squirrel

We got a good start heading down to Staffordshire.  For once the congestion which normally slows us to stop start driving didn't happen.  I noticed on a part of the M6 that has been converted into one of these lunatic "Smart" motorways what had been the hard shoulder was already developing pot holes.  How long is it since it was built?

We arrived at the CL (Caravan and Motorhome Certified Location i.e. small farm site for 5 vans) mid afternoon and were soon set up.  There were still a few hours of daylight so we decided to head for the Wolesley Wildlife Trust reserve. An enjoyable wander round with a number of opportunities for blips.

This Grey Squirrel posed beautifully just as we were leaving.  I know I shouldn't be taking photos of nasty invasive species which are doing untold damage to our native Red Squirrels and forestry, but it did make (in my opinion) a good photograph.

One positive point on the Grey Squirrel front, the reserve no longer seems to sell squirrel food.  This has two advantages, firstly it helps to underline in the publics mind that Greys aren't to be encourage.  Secondly with a reduced food supply they won't be as prolific and so the spread of greys will be slower.
