Friday bottom #45 & #46

Well, it's been a while but I couldn't hold back any longer!

This week it is a statue depicting the Rape of Proserpina...well, not exactly. Rather it depicts the Greek myth of the Rape of Proserpina. It tells the sweet love story of Pluto who, having fallen hopelessly in love with Proserpina, picks her up onto his shoulder and carries her off.

This was made in about 1565 and possibly based on a model by Vincenzo de' Rossi. It was cast by Rafaello Peri. It comes from an Italian garden designer's garden.
